  1. In a significant legal triumph for Apple, an appeals court has temporarily suspended an import ban, allowing the tech giant to resume sales of its latest Apple Watch models. The company confirmed that the Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2, featuring a blood oxygen sensor, will be available in retail stores starting Wednesday, and online sales will restart on Thursday. This decision comes after Apple halted the sale of these models last week, following an October International Trade Commission order that ruled the watches' blood oxygen sensors infringed on patents owned by medical technology firm Masimo.

  2. Google has reached a preliminary settlement in a lawsuit accusing the company of secretly tracking the internet activity of millions who believed they were browsing privately. This agreement, announced in an Oakland, California court, pauses a trial initially scheduled for February 5, 2024. While the lawsuit sought at least $5 billion in damages, the specific terms of the settlement were not disclosed. The plaintiffs claimed that Google's analytics, cookies, and apps enabled tracking of user activity even in 'Incognito' mode on Chrome or 'private' browsing on other browsers. U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers, who had earlier rejected Google's request to dismiss the lawsuit, cited uncertainties about Google's commitments regarding data collection in private browsing modes. The 2020 lawsuit involved "millions" of Google users since June 1, 2016, and sought damages for alleged violations of federal wire-tapping and California privacy laws. Formal settlement details are expected to be presented for court approval by February 24, 2024.
