  1. Elon Musk recently informed investors that his AI startup, xAI, plans to build a supercomputer to power the next version of its AI chatbot, Grok, aiming for completion by fall 2025. The proposed supercomputer, potentially developed in partnership with Oracle, would utilize Nvidia's H100 GPUs, making it at least four times larger than the largest existing GPU clusters. Founded last year to challenge OpenAI and Google's AI ventures, xAI requires substantial computational power, with Grok 2 already utilizing 20,000 H100 GPUs and future models projected to need 100,000 GPUs.

  2. Car shoppers this Memorial Day weekend can expect better deals than last year, as dealerships have a surplus of 2023 vehicles, leading to higher discounts and lower interest rates, according to Edmunds. With the share of 2023 models at dealerships rising to 6.8%, discounts on these models average $4,147, up from $1,919 for 2022 models last year. This provides some relief amid rising car ownership costs. While more expensive models like SUVs offer attractive deals, basic 2023 sedans are selling quickly. The shift to a buyer's market is marked by heavy discounts on Big Three autos and electric vehicles, while used car prices have significantly dropped. Despite steady new vehicle prices and improved auto loan rates, buyers are advised to seek pre-purchase discounts and calculate monthly payments to manage the financial impact.
