Missed out on crypto? Here’s the good news.

If you feel like you missed out on Bitcoin or crypto, there's good news on the horizon. James Altucher, a genius investor who famously called the success of Bitcoin in 2011, says AI is the next big thing—and it’s going to be 10X bigger than crypto. According to Altucher, a once-in-a-lifetime "wealth window" in AI is opening, but it will close soon

  1. The surging energy demands of data centers powering AI and cloud computing are driving a reconsideration of nuclear power as a sustainable energy source. With global electricity consumption projected to rise 75% by 2050, the tech industry faces growing challenges balancing its AI ambitions with sustainability goals. Giants like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta are now investing in nuclear energy, valuing its carbon-free, always-on reliability to meet the immense, continuous power demands of AI infrastructure. Experts suggest this shift marks the start of a "nuclear revival," countering decades of skepticism about safety and offering a potential path toward a greener energy future. Exxon Mobil and Chevron are now also entering the race to power AI data centers, betting that natural gas—with carbon capture—will outpace nuclear as a scalable energy source for tech giants. Exxon plans to build a gas plant independent of the electric grid, promising 90% emission reduction through carbon capture. Exxon CEO Darren Woods argues nuclear's long timelines make gas the more immediate solution. Exxon sees decarbonized AI data centers as a major market for its Gulf Coast carbon capture network by 2050.

  2. President-elect Donald Trump reaffirmed his support for the H-1B visa program, calling it a "great program" he has used extensively, even as divisions over the issue deepen within MAGA circles. Tech leaders like Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy defended the program, emphasizing its role in attracting top talent and driving innovation, while critics, including far-right activists and Nikki Haley, argued it undermines American workers. Musk, whose fiery posts included criticisms of "racists" within the GOP, faced backlash for allegedly revoking verification badges on X from conservatives opposing his views. The debate highlights ongoing tensions over immigration policy within Trump's coalition.

  3. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned Congress that the U.S. will hit its $36 trillion debt limit by mid-January unless lawmakers act or "extraordinary measures" are implemented to prevent default. This sets the stage for a high-stakes debate early next year, as the Fiscal Responsibility Act’s suspension of the ceiling expires on Jan. 1. While Democrats favor raising or eliminating the cap, Republicans have long resisted, citing fiscal concerns. In a surprising shift, Donald Trump expressed support for abolishing the ceiling entirely, but his efforts to include this in year-end legislation were thwarted, leaving the incoming administration to tackle the looming crisis.

  4. Headlines

    1. 179 people have died in the worst plane crash in the history of South Korea.

    2. Trump has asked the Supreme Court to pause proceedings against TikTok so that his administration can attempt to negotiate a resolution instead of forcing a sale.
