  1. Moody’s downgraded the U.S. credit rating from Aaa to Aa1, citing rising federal deficits and efforts to make Trump’s 2017 tax cuts permanent, moves that could add trillions to the national debt. The downgrade pushed bond yields higher, with the 30-year topping 5%, which could raise borrowing costs across consumer loans like mortgages, auto loans, and credit cards. Experts warn that higher rates may persist, especially as the Fed treads carefully amid inflation concerns and Trump’s tariff-driven economic uncertainty. While the U.S. remains a financial safe haven, the downgrade underscores mounting fiscal pressures.

  2. The House Budget Committee narrowly advanced President Trump’s sweeping domestic policy bill after conservative Republicans who had blocked it Friday agreed to vote “present” on Sunday, allowing it to pass 17-16 along party lines. The bill, which would extend Trump’s 2017 tax cuts and boost military and immigration spending while slashing Medicaid, food aid, and clean energy funding, still faces major hurdles in the full House and Senate. Concessions to hard-liners included accelerating Medicaid work requirements and rolling back clean energy subsidies, though leaders refused to disclose full details of the backroom deals made to secure support.

  3. At Computex 2025, Nvidia unveiled NVLink Fusion, a major shift that allows third-party CPUs and GPUs to integrate with Nvidia’s own chips via its high-speed interconnect technology, NVLink. This move opens Nvidia’s ecosystem to partners like Qualcomm and MediaTek, giving AI data center builders more flexibility while still keeping Nvidia’s GPUs at the core. Analysts say it strategically positions Nvidia at the heart of next-gen AI infrastructure—even in hybrid systems not entirely built with Nvidia parts. Nvidia also introduced the DGX Cloud Lepton platform and announced new AI hardware, a Taiwan office, and a partnership with Foxconn to build a local AI supercomputer.

  4. Headlines

    1. Despite their decision to downgrade the US credit rating, Ray Dalio has warned that the risk to US treasuries is higher than what Moody’s has reported.

    2. Bath and Body Works has named former Nike Chief Transformation and Strategy Officer Daniel Heaf as CEO effective immediately.
