  1. U.S. inflation cooled in April, with the annual rate falling to 2.3%—its lowest since February 2021 and slightly below expectations—despite ongoing concerns about Trump’s new tariffs. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, also rose 0.2% for the month, in line with estimates, though shelter costs again drove much of the increase. Egg prices plunged 12.7% in April, yet remain 49.3% higher than a year ago. While markets were largely unmoved by the data, economists warned that the full impact of the tariffs is still to come, complicating the outlook for Fed rate cuts, which markets now expect to begin in September.

  2. Donald Trump’s sweeping new tariffs are facing a serious legal challenge, as the U.S. Court of International Trade hears arguments today over whether the former president exceeded his authority by invoking emergency powers to justify import taxes on over 180 countries. Five U.S. businesses argue that the law Trump used—the International Emergency Economic Powers Act—doesn’t permit tariffs and that his declared “emergency” is bogus. The Department of Justice defends the move, insisting the law allows such action. A ruling against Trump could limit his unilateral trade powers and strike a major blow to a central pillar of his economic strategy.

  3. Could This Company Do for Housing What Tesla Did for Cars? BOXABL believes they have the potential to disrupt a massive and outdated trillion dollar building construction market by bringing assembly line automation to the home industry. Since securing their initial prototype order from SpaceX and a subsequent project order of 156 homes from the Department of Defense, BOXABL has raised over $170M from over 40,000 investors since 2020. They recently achieved a significant milestone: raising over 50% of their Reg A+ funding limit! BOXABL is now only accepting investment on their website until the Reg A+ is full. Invest now before it’s too late. *

  4. General Motors unveiled a new lithium manganese-rich (LMR) prismatic battery it claims will slash EV costs and boost profits on large models like the Silverado and Escalade IQ by 2028. The new tech uses cheaper, more common minerals like magnesium and offers 33% higher energy density than LFP cells at a similar cost—potentially as low as \$80–\$90 per kWh, analysts say. GM says the breakthrough, developed with LG Energy Solution, cuts battery weight and complexity, enabling over 400 miles of range. While rivals like Ford are also chasing LMR tech, GM aims to be first to market and solidify its EV leadership.

  5. Headlines

    1. Microsoft has announced that it will cut 3% of its workforce.

    2. ESPN is launching a new “all-access” streaming app for $29.99/month.
