  1. China has unveiled a global AI action plan just days after the U.S., intensifying the tech rivalry between the world’s largest economies. Premier Li Qiang announced the proposal for a global AI cooperation organization at Shanghai’s World Artificial Intelligence Conference, emphasizing multilateralism and support for the Global South. In contrast, President Trump’s U.S. strategy focuses on curbing “woke” bias and extending American AI abroad. While Washington restricts China’s access to advanced chips, China is investing in domestic alternatives and seeking alliances through Belt and Road. The split signals an emerging AI cold war, with nations choosing sides.

  2. President Trump is steering the U.S. into a bold new era of state capitalism, taking direct stakes in companies like U.S. Steel and MP Materials, moves unseen outside of wartime or major crises. Trump personally holds a “golden share” in U.S. Steel, giving him veto power over corporate decisions, while the Pentagon’s $400 million investment in MP Materials makes it the miner’s top shareholder. These actions mark a shift in Republican policy from free-market orthodoxy to strategic industrial intervention, particularly in response to China’s growing economic influence. While some praise this as pragmatic nationalism, critics warn of market distortions and political overreach.

  3. This gold miner, with a pre-money valuation of only C$15 million, is completing a C$2 million pre-IPO equity raise to restart the Gold Road mine in Arizona, USA. The mine and mill, idled since 2021, are in excellent condition to capitalize on current high gold prices. Gold Road is Arizona's only fully permitted integrated gold mill and plans to list on the TSX.V this October. Management aims to reach 20,000 ounces of gold per year by 2025/26. This would generate over US$40 million EBITDA in 2026 and offer a substantial dividend yield paid in physical gold and silver, presenting significant upside from its current low valuation. 4. A federal appeals court is set to hear arguments next week in V.O.S. Selections v. Trump, the most advanced of several lawsuits challenging President Trump’s use of emergency powers to impose sweeping tariffs. Lower courts have already ruled that Trump exceeded his authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), the law he cites to justify unilateral tariff hikes, including “reciprocal” tariffs and those targeting fentanyl-related trade. Analysts expect Trump to keep losing in the lower courts—and likely at the Supreme Court—casting doubt on the legality of his trade deals, tariff letters to world leaders, and key foreign agreements, potentially unravelling a central pillar of his economic agenda.
