  1. Nvidia is set to release a customized version of its gaming processor in China, dubbed the Nvidia RTX 4090D, which features reduced performance to comply with U.S. export restrictions. This model, listed on Nvidia's China-focused website, is expected to launch in January and sports 11% fewer CUDA cores than its global counterparts. CUDA cores, central to Nvidia's premium RTX line of gaming GPUs, are crucial for processing power, similar to CPU cores in standard processors. This move by Nvidia is a tactical response to the U.S. government's stringent export controls, which aim to limit Chinese firms' access to cutting-edge American chip technology.

  2. In 2023, SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, set a new annual record by successfully completing 96 orbital rocket launches, averaging one launch every four days. The company surpassed its previous record of 61 launches in 2022, with 91 of this year's missions using the Falcon 9 rocket and five with the Falcon Heavy. This achievement includes more Falcon 9 launches in a single year than in its entire first decade. Notable milestones for SpaceX this year included landing its 250th orbital rocket booster and reusing a single rocket 19 times. Additionally, SpaceX set a record for the shortest time between orbital launches, just under three hours, a feat not seen since NASA’s Gemini 11 mission in 1966. This count excludes the company's two Starship test flights, which weren't carrying commercial payloads. Looking ahead, SpaceX aims to increase its launch frequency to 144 Falcon missions in 2024 to expand its Starlink satellite system, a key driver of its $180 billion valuation.
